Food Drive

The Medford-Vincentown Rotary Club and Zallie’s Shoprite of Medford held a highly successful food drive at the Shoprite store to aid local families.  When a local food bank that serves Burlington County ran dry the Rotary Club was able to help.  The Christian Caring Center food bank in Pemberton, NJ found that the need was so great this year that they actually ran out of food prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday!  With the cupboards bare and more people in need, the Medford-Vincentown Rotarians set to work.  They spent most of a day greeting customers at the Medford Shoprite and asking them for food donations.  “Service above Self is our motto and the patrons of the ShopRite truly demonstrated this”, according to Rotarian Danielle Colaianni organizer of the event.  The drive was such a great success that by the end of the day two heavily loaded vans loaded with food was collected.  This outstanding effort could not have been accomplished without the generosity of the wonderful people of Medford and Southampton. The food was delivered to the Christian Caring Center where volunteers will distribute the food throughout the county to families in need.  “I am always amazed and proud of the way we can come together both as Rotarians and community when a need arises. We are truly blessed to share what we have in the true spirit of the holiday’s”, said Chris Stokes, President of the Medford-Vincentown Rotary.
